HOW I AM COPING WITH ROUTINES (OR A LACK OF)
If you’ve been following our content for a while, you’ll know that we travel. A lot. I was lucky and travelled domestically and internationally a few times with family trips and whilst at school, but since 2015, I have spent more time living overseas in a number of different countries than at home in Australia. And whilst I enjoy it, love aspects of it and am growing to dislike other areas of it, I have always, always struggled with keeping routine when I am abroad. Growing up, I was so disciplined and focused on tasks and outcomes that it was easy for me to stay in a structured routine. Travelling, any routine I’ve started to get used to tends to get thrown to the wind as soon as a change in location or daily activity gets broken down.
Now, I’m not advocating that a change in routine or not having one is a bad thing, but I know personally that I need some sort of habitual process that need to be formed to keep me on track, and recently this hasn’t happened for me. Right now, I am struggling to develop habits that will keep me healthy through a season, especially when it comes to creating a short workout/stretch session that will work my body but keep me energised and not kill me for the following day. And I don’t know about you, but then there is the timing of fitting it all in to your day. Try as I might, it seems I run out of hours in the day, not to mention the motivation to do these small habits sometimes just isn’t there.
So I pose these few questions to you:
What are your everyday habits - What can you not get through a day without doing?
If you were to create a new positive habit for your day, what would it be? How would you go about doing it?
And finally, how much of a difference has this made on your life?
Let us know your thoughts and ideas in the comments, I’m ready to learn and be inspired <3
Peace.
