MY FAVOURITE PHOTO
Probably not what you were expecting right? This is one of my absolute favourite photos I’ve ever taken. Wasn’t even taken on a professional camera, or even an entry level camera, I think my old iPhone 5s was responsible for capturing this photo of Sabre, my fat (it’s just extra skin, okay?), roly-poly, lazy, food obsessed Labrador, forever a puppy regardless of age (he’s 11 now and still has short bursts of puppy-crazy moments every few days or so).
It’s not a technically good photo, it’s not a crazy photo that took too much effort - Sabre hates cameras and phones pointed at him so it can sometimes be a bit of a mission to get him still enough to get a shot of him - but for me, this image shows the trust he has in us as his owners and his demeanour in general. He’s a quiet, no fuss pooper that loves to sleep, relax, eat and get cuddles and pats and I miss him every day I’m away from him.
This isn’t the only favourite I have, obviously - there are so many photos, both personal and professional, that could easily be in the top 30. I doubt I could cut it down any further than that honestly. And I shouldn’t have to. I get asked often what my favourite image is and, of course, there are a few that stick out in my memory. Maybe it was the end to a great day and the photo brings back emotions and thoughts each time I see it, or a beautiful location that I remember being in by myself with no distractions or connections to the rest of the world.
I also know that I probably haven’t shot my favourite image just yet as well, and that is part of the fun. So many moments are coming and will be present throughout my life, there is no way that my most loved has been documented yet. And that surprise keeps me coming back for more.
Here’s a few of my most loved professional images for you to check out anyway. Each one is special to me, perhaps because it was taken on a good day with friends, for the technical challenges associated with getting the shot, or just a moment where everything felt right with the world. Hope you enjoy.
Peace,
Josh
